For many Oklahoma families, access to specialized hearing healthcare can mean hours of travel, missed work and significant obstacles to receiving care. Through its partnership with Hearts for Hearing, the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma (MCFOK) is helping remove those barriers and bring life-changing services directly to the people who need them most.
Since 2018, the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma has had an active role in advancing Hearts for Hearing's mission of creating life-changing opportunities for children and adults with hearing loss. Through generous support totaling $1,802,500, MCFOK has helped expand newborn hearing screening services, reduce financial barriers for pediatric patients and support Hearts for Hearing's Celebration of Sound building expansion.
Today, that impact can be seen rolling down Oklahoma highways in Hearts for Hearing's Mobile Care Clinic.
Launched in January 2025, the Mobile Care Clinic was created with a simple but powerful goal: if families cannot come to Hearts for Hearing, Hearts for Hearing will go to them. The clinic provides both pediatric and adult diagnostic and treatment services and is helping increase access to comprehensive hearing healthcare in all 77 Oklahoma counties.
In just its first year of operation, the Mobile Care Clinic has traveled to more than 10 locations across the state and now serves patients regularly in Ardmore, Enid and Miami. The clinic also reaches Oklahomans through events such as the Special Olympics and visits to long-term assisted living centers, ensuring hearing healthcare is available to communities that might otherwise go without.
For many families, the Mobile Care Clinic is more than a convenience; it is a lifeline.
One such family was introduced to Hearts for Hearing during a Special Olympics event.
"I am so glad my son could be seen. We did not even know what Hearts for Hearing was until we encountered the Mobile Care Clinic at Special Olympics," said Alice. "Because of our visit that day, my son was able to be seen and get the hearing aids he needed. It was a blessing... all of it has been a huge blessing."
Stories like Alice's demonstrate why mobile healthcare matters. Early identification and treatment of hearing loss can dramatically improve communication, education and quality of life. By bringing comprehensive hearing care directly into communities, Hearts for Hearing is helping children and adults gain access to services that can change the course of their lives.
The mission of Hearts for Hearing is to create life-changing opportunities for children and adults with hearing loss to listen for a lifetime; their focus is on ensuring that financial burdens never prevent a child in Oklahoma from accessing listening and spoken language. Thanks to partners like the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma, that mission continues to reach more people than ever before.
The Mobile Care Clinic is more than a vehicle; it is a symbol of what is possible when organizations work together to meet people where they are. Through its ongoing support of Hearts for Hearing, MCFOK is helping Oklahomans hear, connect, learn and thrive, regardless of where they live.
